In a Perfect World - The Cheesecake Dessert Bar!Let's pretend for a moment that we want to build ourselves the perfect cheesecake dessert bar - how would we get started? Well, we're no source of online legal advice, but we'd expect that to build a cheesecake dessert bar we'd want to establish some sort of business for it. But first, how about a name? After choosing the concept of any restaurant - and we've chosen ours to be a dessert bar specializing in cheesecake - the next step is going to be choosing a name. Choosing a name for our cheesecake dessert bar will be a great selling point to our clientel as well as form the basis for all the advertising and marketing we could do. Let's pretend, for example, that our house dessert chef has a secret family recipe for the most amazing blueberry cheesecake the world has ever sampled. This will be our most popular product, and the one we are most proud of. How about using it in our name? Something like: "The Blueberry Bar - Cheesecakes to Die For." Or maybe "The Family Secret - A Dessert Bar." Whatever the name, we'll want to make sure it's not already registered and being used in our state. There are different types of incorporation in different states, and we'll need to make sure that there isn't another business (cheesecake or otherwise!) that's using our name. The next step is to plan. Having a winning strategy, or some focus that will set us apart from the rest of those restaurants out there is absolutely essential. So we better make sure that this cheesecake is as good as we say it is! Alternatively, we could try another gimmick - perhaps the most different flavors of cheesecake in the city. Or maybe it could be a build your own cheesecake bar where the customer creates their toppings, guided by a list of recipes and suggestions. Whatever the catch, this cheesecake dessert bar should be one to remember long after a customer has left the front door. When choosing a place for our cheesecake dessert bar, location is possibly the most important factor. When all is said and done, it doesn't matter how we've used your LLC advantages to the best extent possible or how we've organized our chairs and tables if no one comes in to eat one of our delicious cheesecakes! We want a location that's easy to get to, has lots of traffic (foot, car, or otherwise), and looks like an enticing place to enjoy a dessert. We may find that the restaurant space we'll be renting needs a lot of fixing up to become the cheesecake dessert bar of our dreams! Next comes the business aspects. How much is this cheesecake bar going to cost to run? Rent payments, utilities, employees, equipment, tables, chairs, napkins, ovens, and everything in between? Once we've got our costs estimated, we need to figure out how much money might be coming in. How many cheesecakes can we sell? Will that number be larger on the weekends? In the evening? In the summer or in the winter? We can use forecasting to try and estimate our revenues. You don't need a degree in business law to know that we better be making more money than we're spending or we won't be serving up cheesecakes for long! Bottom line - we think it would be fun to run a cheesecake dessert bar. Be on the lookout for the Family Secret! |
